On a personal note, B&W has its own charm and appeal different from Colored photographs. I agree with you that B&W is better that colored photo or vice versa. I just find that there are certain images that 'communicates better' in B&W.
Nonsense, There are hardly any colours in this picture. It's a simple palette. The colours make the picture warmer. I agree that B&W can make the composition stronger if there are too many "distracting colours" in the BG. That's not the case in this picture. A nice portrait by the way. I prefer the coloured one!
